Gerry Bandola
November 11, 1940 - December 25, 2023
Gerry attended Perth Amboy High School where he lettered in football, wrestling and track. He attended Pacific University in Oregon on a football scholarship. Gerry earned his masters from Seton Hall in 1972.
Gerry was the organizer and founder of the Cedar Ridge wrestling program in Madison. His accomplishments were an undefeated string of 35 in a row, undefeated seasons in 1970-1971 with 14-0 records. Gerry’s career record was 286-92-5 at Cedar Ridge. He coached 32 GMC Champions, 54 distinct champs, 9 regional champs, 15 state place winners. He then spent 2 years at Woodbridge High School where he won one district championship.
Gerry served as vice president and president of Middlesex County Wrestling Coaches Association and president of Region 6 Coaches Association. He was vice president of the New Jersey State Wrestling Coaches Association and had the privilege of being published by Parker Publishing Company in 1978. Gerry has been named “Coach of the Year” in 1975, 1989. He was inducted into the Region 5 Hall of Fame and won the Harry E. Lake Award.
As of 2008, Gerry is still ranked in the top 25 “Winningest Coaches in the State of New Jersey.” Gerry currently lives in Florida with his wife of 43 years, Charlotte. Gerry’s two daughters Jodi and Kavi reside in the New England area.
