Robert Tomasovic

Colonel Robert Tomasovic was a NCAA and AAU All American and Pac-8 scholar athlete at Oregon State University. He coached wrestling for nine years at Umpqua Community College with an impressive 120–24–2 record.

His military service spans 32 years, including duty as Deputy Brigade Commander of the 41st Separate Infantry Brigade and Commander of the 218th Field Artillery. Bob was also Director of the Leader Development & Education for Sustained Peace Program, Center for Civil Military Relations, Naval Postgraduate School, in Monterey, California. That program provided graduate level education for more than 45,000 military leaders in peace support operations deploying to complex environments, primarily Iraq, Afghanistan and the Balkans . Colonel Tomasovic also conducted seminars to help emerging democracies build their own capacity to assist in international peace support operations in southeast Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa. In 2004, he received the Naval Postgraduate School’s LCDR David L. Williams Outstanding Professor Award.

For his dedication and lasting influence on wrestling and the USA, Bob Tomasovic is presented the National Wrestling Hall of Fame’s “Outstanding American from Oregon“ award for the class of 2009.
