Al Wolstenholme

Al Wolstenholme is a 1959 graduate of Springfield DELCO HS and a1963 graduate of West Chester University. Al was head wrestling coach at Conestoga High School for 29 years (1963-1987 and 1993-1997). During his long and successful tenure at Conestoga, Coach Wolstenholme earned 337 wins and won 5 league championships, 15 sectional titles, and 1 District I championship. In his years at Conestoga coach Wolstenholme never had a losing season. He coached 39 state qualifiers, including Jason Lamotta to the state championship, as well as 4 runner-up state champions and 16 state place winners. During his coaching career Al has coached over 85 individual champions of in-season tournaments and over 110 sectional champions. Mr. Wolstenholme was instrumental in organizing Conestoga youth wrestling. He also sponsored the initial Junior Olympics at Conestoga High School. Wolstenholme was a member of the District I Committee for 31 years, 8 of those years as chairman. Wolstenholme also served 8 years as the president of the District I Coaches' Association. Mr. Wolstenholme was voted coach of the year 10 times. Coach Wolstenholme is a member of the Pennsylvania Wrestling Coaches' Association Hall of Fame and the Southern Pennsylvania Hall of Fame. Following his service at Conestoga, Coach Wolstenholme has served as assistant wrestling coach at Pequea Valley High School in District Ill. Al has coached at P.V. from 1997-present. Pequea Valley has not had a losing season since Wolstenholme joined the staff. Coach Wolstenholme was instrumental in developing the successful Pequea Valley Braves Invitational Tournament and the Pequea Valley duals. Coach Wolstenholme has been a great teacher, administrator and coach for over forty years.
