Mike Lommori started the wrestling program in Yerington, Nevada in 1966, and in approximately four years developed it into a wrestling powerhouse.

Yerington won the AA state championship 12 of 13 years and had a streak of 107 consecutive dual match wins over a nine-year period.

Lommori's teams competed in tournaments in Nevada and California and were extremely successful, including winning many titles against much larger schools.
