Wes Creason

A graduate of North Polk High School he was a three-sport athlete, who become a three-time national qualifier at Coe College. He then became one of the state's top wrestling mentors during a 23-year span, 1983-2006. Starting as an assistant coach at Central Clinton, DeWitt he took the head position at Central Decatur, Leon (1983-1986), before moving to Indianola for 16 seasons. He coached four seasons at his current school Bondurant-Farrar where he handles the duties of Athletics Director. His coaching resume is impressive. His teams rolled to a dual meet record of 323-52-8, ranking him 14th among the 22 coaches with 300 or more wins. His winning percentage of 83.2 is fourth among the elite group. His teams recorded eight top ten finishes at the traditional State Tournament - one by Central Decatur (fifth in 1983) and seven by Indianola including the 1994 squad that took home the school's only title. He directed 114 state meet qualifiers with 41 place winners at Indianola. He coached six state champions and 13 runner-up athletes while 14 others advanced to the consolation finals. His teams won 17 conference titles and eight district championships. At the State Dual Team Tournament his clubs had two runner-up finishes (1998 and 1999) and three fourth place efforts. He and his wife Julie live in Indianola. They have raised Ashley and Jared, who was third in the NCAA Div. III tourney in 2006.
