Billy Joe Lovett

·         Native of Adel, GA

·         1983 graduate of Cook High School (Adel, GA)

·         30 years of service as one of Georgia’s top wrestling officials (1984-2014)

·         Outstanding official worked 35 GHSA state tournaments, often working more than one state tournament when GHSA tournaments were not on the same weekend as they are today

·         Served as mentor and trainer to younger and veteran officials throughout south Georgia

·         Selected by Georgia Athletic Coaches Association (GACA) as state’s Official-of-the-Year (2006)

·         Officiating career was cut short due to a hunting accident where he lost eyesight in one eye due to being accidentally shot with bird shot to his face, actually officiating two seasons after his injury

·         Serves as Senior Vice President for the Scruggs Company, one of Georgia’s premier paving contractors

·         Resides in Hahira, GA with wife, Tanya; adult children: Rosie Lovett Heron, Ashton Lovett Early, Kade Parsons, Connor Parsons
