Barbra Morgan
LIFETIME SERVICE TO WRESTLING
· Sedro Woolley High School: 2004-present
Barbra Morgan was a 1983 graduate of Sedro Woolley High School and then attended Whatcom Community College graduating in 1985.
With 28 years of coaching experience, Barb Morgan has been a trailblazer and leader in Washington wrestling. Beginning with seven years at the club level with Sedro Woolley Steel Claw and continuing with 21 seasons at Sedro Woolley High School, Morgan has guided athletes to success on and off the mat. Her high school teams compiled a 132–45 dual meet record, won four state team championships, and earned eight top 20 state finishes. She has coached 39 state placers, including six state champions, while also leading her teams to two Academic State Championships.
Morgan’s influence extends well beyond the mat. She founded and still directs the longest-running girls-only wrestling tournament in Washington, helping to create opportunities for female athletes long before the sport gained statewide recognition. Under her leadership, eight former wrestlers have continued wrestling at the collegiate level, including an NAIA National Champion and an NAIA All-American. Morgan has served on the WSWCA Executive Board as the Girls’ Wrestling representative, and she is a member of the 12-person NFHS National Rules Committee for wrestling.
Her peers and the wrestling community have recognized her contributions with multiple honors, including two Washington Wrestling Coach of the Year awards and the prestigious NWCA National Coach of the Year award. In November of 2025, she was inducted into the Washington State Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame.
As the first female coach inducted into both the WSWCA Hall of Fame and the Washington Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of fame, Morgan’s career represents perseverance, excellence, and a commitment to expanding opportunities for young women in wrestling. Beyond the accolades, she is known for her compassion, mentorship, and advocacy for her athletes—caring for and supporting them as if they were her own.
Barbra and her spouse Landy reside in Sedro Woolley, where Morgan serves as a Supervisor in the Sedro Woolley School District Food Service in addition to her continued coaching of the Sedro Woolley Girls Wrestling Program. They have three grown children, Seth, Dustin and Trent and three grandchildren, Everlie, Beau and Vallie.
