David Jones was an outstanding wrestler at Ronan High School in Montana under Hall of Fame coach Dave Eddington (AAU-2001).  He was a 2-time Montana State Champion with a won/loss record of 62-2.  David was a 8-time Montana Freestyle Champion and 7-time National Freestyle champion.  Jones continued his wrestling success at Montana State University where he was a 2-time Big Sky Champion and a 3-time NCAA Division 1 participant graduating in 1987 with a total won/loss record of 81-12.

Moving to Washington State, Jones began his officiating and coaching career.  He coached in the North Kitsap School District both at the high school and middle school levels.  Jones coached numerous district, regional and state championship participants.  6 of his wrestlers from his 1992 North Kitsap High School team went on to coach wrestling at the club and school levels.

In 1995 Jones began officiating for the Peninsula Wrestling officials Association (PWOA).  David served ad Vice President for the PWOA from 2005-2015, then as the President of the PWOA from 2017-2023.  Jones has Officiated at Mat Classic, the WIAA State Wrestling Championships from 2009-2024.

In recognition of his outstanding officiating, Jones has been selected by his fellow officials as the Peninsula Wrestling officials Association Outstanding Official 11 times.  He was awarded the Washington Officials Association Official of the Year in 2010 and the PWOA Meritorious Service Award in 2025.  Jones also served on the Washington Officials Association Wrestling Committee for 6 years.

David married his wife Ann, a wrestling cheerleader on a wrestling mat in 1983.  They currently reside in Poulsbo, Washington where David continues to work Sales for Ferguson Enterprise. They are proud parents of 3 adult children: John, Jenne and Jeff.  They are Grandparents and Great Grandparents to Evan, Owen, Carter, Nathan, Nolan, Jack, Luke and Molly.
