Curtis Herneisen, hailing from Manheim, Pa., ventured west and wrestled collegiately at Utah State University from 1968-1970 before returning to the Keystone State to finish his collegiate career at Millersville State College from 1971-73. In his final season, Herneisen was named a Scholar Athlete in 1973.

Upon graduation, Herneisen began a coaching career within Lebanon School District by founding the junior high program for the Cedars for the 1973 season. From 1974-76, Herneisen served as the assistant varsity coach at Lebanon.

He would then return to his roots in the Lancaster area for one season, serving as Manheim Central’s elementary coach in 1977 before culminating his coaching career as assistant varsity coach at ELCO in 1978 and varsity head coach from 1978-80.

Herneisen then turned his attention toward a career as a PIAA wrestling official, which has spawned over 50 years to this day.

Herneisen also has enjoyed serving as a scoring table helper at the collegiate level since 2008, having worked prestigious events such as the EIWA, ACC, Big Ten and MAC conference national qualifiers as well as the NCAA Championships across all three levels.

Inducted into the Lancaster Lebanon Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2022, Herneisen is a proud supporter of the Manheim Central and Millersville University wrestling programs while also volunteering his time on the Manheim Central Hall of Fame selection committee.

Now retired from a longtime career in public education within Lebanon District, he and his wife, Marjorie, reside in Columbia, Pa.
