Kevin Carroll
Perseverance and dedication played a pivotal role in Carroll’s long and successful coaching career.
The prime example was during his tenure at Madison High School.
When the program shrunk to just six wrestlers in 1999, Carroll never lost faith and, three years later, led the Dodgers to a winning season with a full lineup.
Carroll coached Madison from 1988-2006, compiling a 186-120 record during his tenure. The Dodgers won a District 9 title in 1990, a pair of Northern Hill Conference crowns in 1991 and 1992, and qualified for the state tournament eight times, including sectional final appearances in 1991 and 1993.
His wrestlers captured 28 district titles, four region crowns, won eight Morris County titles and placed twice in the state.
Carroll was the recipient of the Gerard Sachsel Award, was honored as the District 9 and Northern Hills Conference Coach of the Year four times each and was inducted into the NJSIAA Scholastic Coaches Hall of Fame (2004) and Morris County Wrestling Hall of Fame (2014).
He started his coaching career at the youth level in 1979 and still currently coaches wrestling, football and track.
Away from the mat, Carroll made significant contributions to the sport as the Region 3 president for 14 years and the Morris County Coaches Association’s treasurer for 19 years. He’s currently the Region 3 Ranking Chair and has worked on the NJSIAA Tournament Seeding Committee since 1994.
Carroll was the NJWHOF associate director from 2009-16 and currently is a member of the organization’s Board of Directors, gathering information for perspective candidates during the nomination process.
A graduate of New Providence High School, Carroll won a district title in 1977. He went on to play football and graduated from Fairleigh-Dickinson University.
Carroll and his wife Terry live in New Providence. They have three children Paul, Ben and Kelly.
