Cyler Sanderson was a three-time Utah state high school champion and had a career record of 163-8 for Wasatch High School in Heber City, Utah. 

National Junior champion at 140 pounds and was First-Team ASICS All-American and Second-Team Amateur Wrestling News All-American in 2005. 

Ranked first in the nation at 140 pounds in 2005 by the National Wrestling Coaches Association and Amateur Wrestling News, and won the National High School Coaches Association Championship. 

Two-time champion at Reno Tournament of Champions and runner-up at Greco-Roman Junior Nationals in 2004.
