Mark Johnson
Mark Johnson covered nearly all the bases during his three plus decades as a wrestling coach and leader in northern Idaho. Mark coached Lakeland High School for 20 years, influencing hundreds of young lives and helping craft state champions who earned All-American honors and went on to become college-level wrestlers. Mark is also highly regarded as a tournament director, leading district tournaments in northern Idaho for another eighteen years. Additionally, Mark served as the official weight classification director in both District I and II throughout this period. Lauded by many for his leadership running tournaments, Mark’s superior knowledge of wrestling led to near flawless tournament execution. A consummate leader and educator, Mark took it upon himself to travel widely as weight classification director and ensure that the coaches and leaders of each program understood certification requirements, and more importantly how those contributed to the health and safety of the wrestlers themselves.
“Coach Johnson is always having a great time and lifting those in his presence up. As a coach, he is second to none for me. I am incredibly grateful for the lessons me and my teammates learned under his coaching.” - Nathan Pascoe
