David Vibber
David Vibber taught at Corona del Sol High School in Tempe, Arizona from 1979 until his retirement in 2009. He graduated from Alma High School in Alma, Michigan where he was a 4-year letterman and an All-State Wrestler. Vibber then graduated from Alma College where he was a 2-time Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Champion at 118lbs. and a 2-time NCAA-DIII National Qualifier. He received his Master’s Degree from Arizona State University. His Aztec Wrestling Teams won the Arizona 5A-I Individual State Championship in 2008 and 2009 along with the Dual State Title in 2009. Corona del Sol was also the Individual State Runner-up in 2007 and the Dual State Runner-up in 2008. He has recorded 424 career dual meet victories with 408 in Arizona and 16 while coaching in Michigan. Vibber coached 25 State Champions, including Golden Merrill, the National Champion at the 1997 NWCA/Brute National Scholastic Wrestling Showcase and Luke Macchiaroli, the 2009 Arizona Recipient of the Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award. He has coached 22 State Runner-ups and over 50 H.S All-State wrestlers. In 1990-91, Corona del Sol received the AIA Scholar-Athlete Team Award for the Best Wrestling Team GPA in Arizona. In 2009, both the National Wrestling Coaches Association and the AIA/Cox 7 - Everyday Heroes, recognized him as the “Arizona Coach of the Year”. Vibber was inducted into the Tempe All-City Association and the Corona del Sol High School Athletic Hall Of Fame. He was welcomed into the Arizona High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2010. The Arizona Interscholastic Association recognized him at the 2023 AIA State Wrestling Championship with a Lifetime Service Award.
