David “Big Daddy” Smith wrestled successfully in grade school and high school in New Jersey and Plymouth State College in New Hampshire. He was a multi-sport athlete who lettered in wrestling, football and baseball.  He coached High School wrestling and football in Arizona for 2 years. He is an Arizona State University alumnus and has been a booster of the football and wrestling programs for over 30 years. While owning his own business, he officiated junior high, high school and college wrestling for 28 years. He officiated over 20 State High School Championship tournaments, as well as out state events and three High School National Championship Tournaments. He served as Treasurer of the Arizona Wrestling Officials Association and advisor to the Arizona Interscholastic Association for over 20 years.
