Wrestling is a lifestyle, and it definitely was the lifestyle of Tim Berrier. He was a wrestler for Iowa State and U of A in the late 1970’s. He was an Iowa H.S. state champion in 1978 and multiple time placer at the AAU Nationals. He brought his wrestling knowledge and spread it out around many southern Arizona wrestling programs which garnered many state championship trophies. His coaching career started at Catalina H.S. (1981-83,) and went to Amphi H.S. (1989-90), finally making his head coaching debut at Salpointe H.S. in 1990-2000. At Salpointe, he developed some top-level college wrestlers bringing home three 5th place and two 3rd place finishes. He moved to Pueblo H.S. (2001-05) reviving the program and claimed a runner-up trophy. He brought his advanced coaching skills to assist at Pima College (2005-2007). His wrestling lifestyle led him to garner his highest level of accomplishments at Ironwood Ridge H.S. (2007-16). At the Ridge, his wrestling tutelage claimed dominance over southern AZ and all AZ State teams by winning four state titles and two runner-up trophies. He retired with a 425-118 dual record (78 winning %) and coached many college ranked wrestlers. In his career, he coached 35 state champions and 121 state placers.
