Born in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, and son of Don and Etta Jean Weekley, for 49 years and counting, wrestling has been a large part of his life. Growing up in Bellaire, Ohio, Don was introduced to the Sport of Wrestling in 7th grade while attending Rose Hill Elementary/Jr. High. His wrestling continued at Bellaire High School becoming a 3-time letterman and then attending West Liberty State College where he wrestled for 4 years earning 2 varsity wrestling letters.                                    

After college, he returned to his hometown and started his teaching/coaching career. Alongside coaching the 8th / 9th grade wrestling teams from 1984-87, he became a licensed official. In June of 1987, he and Trish, his wife of 4 years, and their 1-year old daughter, Jessica, to Florida and began teaching/coaching at Fort Myers High School. Being involved in not only wrestling, but football as well, he did not go back to officiating right away. He had the opportunity to mentor many wrestlers as well as football/wrestlers along the way. In 1988, his son, Ryan, was born and who would later wrestle for his father, earning a state title his senior year.                                                                          

While at Fort Myers High, he assisted coach Gary Freis, became head Coach from    1988-89 and again in 2002-08, attaining the following achievements:   166 Wins - (Assistant Coach 93-67 / Head Coach 73-52)   54 Individual District Champs (Assistant. Coach 33 Champs / Head Coach 21 Champs) - 19 Individual Regional Champs (Assistant Coach 16 Champs / Head Coach 3 Champs)  - 26 Individual State Placers (Assistant Coach 17 Placers / Head Coach 9 Placers) -12 Individual State Champs (Assistant Coach 9 Champs / Head Coach 3 Champs)- 4 Team State Runner-ups as an Assistant Coach 1988,1991, 1992, and 1994.                                 

In the fall of 2008, he went back to officiating, becoming a member of the Southwest Florida Wrestling Officials Association as an official and assigner. He has officiated 15 Districts, 10 Regionals (4x as Head Official), and 3 State Championship Tournaments. In addition, from 2013-15, Don was Vice president of the FGCU Wrestling Booster Club helping them to begin a program and get chartered. He is currently on a committee to start a Lee County Middle School Wrestling Program. He continues to give his time and dedication to this great sport while mentoring young athletes and coaches.                                                                                                             

Don currently resides in Cape Coral, Florida with his wife Trish, son (Ryan), and lives a few miles from daughter Jessica, her husband PJ, and two grandchildren, Elijah and McKenzie. He retired from teaching/coaching in June of 2023 but will continue to give back to the wrestling community as an official, assigner, and advocate for wrestling at the middle school level.
