Mark “Cal” Calentino
Mark “Cal” Calentino was head wrestling coach at San Clemente High School from 1991 to 2022.
Calentino’s Tritons won a combined six California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section championships, including three straight dual meet championships in each of the last three seasons. San Clemente also won team titles at the CIF-SS championship tournament in 2005, 2007 and 2008.
Under Calentino, San Clemente won 18 league championships and compiled a dual meet record of 426-98-2. Numerous Tritons would go on to CIF-SS and state placing finishes with many moving on to college wrestling careers.
Before taking over at San Clemente, he was an assistant coach at several Orange County high schools: Laguna Hills, Los Amigos and San Clemente.
Calentino started the San Clemente Youth Wrestling Club in 2005 and directed it until 2012.
In 2017, he started the girls wrestling team at SCHS, and served as an assistant coach last season.
Calentino was president of the Orange County Wrestling Coaches Association for four years and also works with the Laguna Beach Police Department.
