Jeff Haase

Jeff Haase was born to parents Jerry and Marcia Haase on November 21, 1965 in Shelbyville, Illinois. His father was a Baptist Minister and the family moved from state to state frequently before settling in Tuscumbia Alabama in 1980, just a few weeks before enrolling for his freshman year at Deshler High School. That year he participated in football, wrestling, and baseball. His football and wrestling coach was Hall of Fame member Bob Laxton. He eventually dropped baseball and football and stuck with wrestling. Jeff wrestled at the 119, 125, 135, and 140lb weight classes between 1980-1984, where the team finished runner-up, runner-up, state Champions, and 5th place respectively. During his senior year, Jeff served as Captain of the wrestling team.
5 years after leaving high school Jeff decided to try officiating wrestling to stay connected to the sport. He refereed high school wrestling in Alabama from 1989-2008 and officiated numerous AHSAA Sectional and State Tournaments during that time. During his 20 years as an official, Jeff received several District and State Official of the Year awards.
Jeff began his coaching career in 1997 as Coach of Shoals Youth Wrestling, which included kids from all over the Shoals area.  Many of Jeff’s wrestlers went on to win Youth State and Junior National titles. Jeff coached the Shoals Youth program through 2014.  Also during that time, he served as Vice President and President of the Southern Youth Wrestling Organization and Vice President of USA wrestling.  From 2009-2017, Jeff served as Head Wrestling coach at Muscle Shoals High School, a program that he started from scratch. During his 8 seasons at Muscle Shoals, Jeff had 5 individuals who produced 9 state championships, with another 10 state placers.
Jeff has 3 daughters, Alex 34, Caden 24, and Stella 21. He is engaged to marry Laura Myers, and both are members of Parkview Baptist Church in Tuscumbia.
