Jack McCutchen
Jack McCutchen has served the sport of wrestling for most of his life.
He began coaching club teams in the Tulsa area when he was just 20 years old. He spent most of the next 30 years coaching inner-city kids on various club teams.
McCutchen began his coaching career for Tulsa Rogers Hamilton Club where he coached for 10 years from 1968-78. He moved over to coach Tulsa East Central in 1978. He coached Tulsa Memorial from 1981-83 and Tulsa Webster from 1983-93.
His teams won five Tulsa Junior Wrestling Association Championships from 1974-79.
He also raised money and took whoever wanted to wrestle to a prestigious tournament in Iowa, most of the funding came out of his own pocket.
McCutchen coached Shawn Harrison and Rodney Jones who both went on to become NCAA All-Americans at the University of Oklahoma. He also coached Biff Jones who became an All-American at the Division II level, and Shawn Jones who is an NAIA All-American.
McCutchen has also devoted his time to coaching football and baseball. In 1974, he coached a 16-year old Mickey Mantle baseball team to the national championship.
Most of his efforts were voluntary. He devoted a lot of time and money to teaching kids not just the sport of wrestling, but also about sportsmanship and how to be good citizens.
McCutchen spent 10 years in the Oklahoma National Guard rising to the rank of sergeant.
He retired from coaching in 2004 after coaching Cascia Hall's club team for a couple of years.
Jack is currently the vice president of manufacturing for Gunnebo-Johnson located in Tulsa. He is married to his wife Maggie, and has a daughter, Brook and a son Trey, who passed away in 1994.
