Wayne Turner

Wayne Turner started his wrestling coaching career at Kirkman HS in 1984. Kirkman gave way to the downtown Chattanooga revival and Wayne moved to Chattanooga Tyner. Wayne accumulated 233 wins over 35 years. The number here is 35 years. All four coaches are being inducted for their service to our sport, their communities and to the young men and women they helped shape. All four coaches faced plenty of challenges. But, Dave Stoika in a more rural area and Wayne Turner in a more urban area held programs together where programs would likely have not existed without them. Wayne coached 3 state champs and 4 other finalists. They did the tough work, sacrificed, persevered-like wrestlers.
