Roger Antone, III

The Outstanding American category recognizes individuals who have succeeded outside of wrestling based on qualities they learned while wrestling. Roger Antone III is what coaches point to of what a wrestler could be. The technique and the work and wins is the now. And Roger accumulated plenty of those-111 wins and 3x state qualifier-but if you ask most coaches what they value more...what they want for their wrestlers, it's to become be a good human, a strong contributing community member. The hard work, sacrifice, putting team over self, overcoming adversity, pushing yourself further than you thought you could go and self-discipline...all the attributes our sport demands are the real pieces of value we take from our competitive time. Some of us make life long friends because we toiled together...others make family.

Roger came from humble beginnings. He accomplished many firsts. He was the first in his family to attend college and first to attain post high school certifications. Roger wrestled for HOF coach Jeff Price and Jimmy Miller at The Hill. He's become a highly decorated K-9 Officer in the Sullivan County Sheriff's Department and valuable member of his community. We received letters of recommendation from leaders in literally every facet of Roger's life.
