Lee Hall was born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho and attended Sandpoint High School in Idaho. In high school he ran track and played football. In track he was a 5-time state champion: 220 and 440-yard champion in 1953; 220 and 440-yard champion in 1954; and 220-yard champion in 1955. He also set the school record for most points scored in a single season in football in 1953. Lee went on to compete in track and field at Washington State University graduating in 1960 with a degree in education.
Coach Hall began his coaching career at Snohomish Junior High School where he coached wrestling for 8 years before becoming the head wrestling coach at Connell High School. Under Hall the Connell Eagles had a dual meet record of 98-63-7, winning 7 league championships and four Regional titles. At Washington State Wrestling Tournament, the Eagles finished 6th (1), 5th (3) and State Champs 3 times with 27 state place finishers and 6 state champions. Their son Bryce was a 3 timer State Champion wrestler. Hall was also the head track coach at Connell High School where his teams won the 1A State Championships 4 times in 1970, 1971, 1972 and 1978. In addition to the state track championships his teams had numerous top four state track team finishes.
Upon retiring from education, after 30 years, in 1990, Lee continued assisting as a track coach. As one of the early pioneers in the 1A classification in wrestling, Coach Hall has been recognized as the 1A State Wrestling Coach of the Year in 1974 and 1975 and was inducted into the Washington State Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1990. Sandpoint High School inducted Lee Hall into their Hall of Fame in 1997.
Lee and his wife Joyce currently reside in Connell, but spend their winters snow birding in Yuma, Arizona. The are the proud parents of 3 adult children: Greg Hall, Sheila Schroder and Bryce Hall. They also have 6 grandchildren: Ryan Hall, Jayme Hall, Connor Hall, twins Mackenzie Cey and Chloe Hall, and Zachary Schroder. They have 1 great grandson.
