Marc Taylor

Marc Taylor wrestled for 2006 Class Hall of Fame member Ronnie Carter at Overton.

Marc cut his coaching teeth as an assistant to Hall of Famer Ralph Gabriel at Overton. The duo coached Overton to a 1996 state championship with three-time runner-up James Vance and super stud Charles McTorry II, a two-time state champion and national champion.

The next year Marc stepped out of the shadows to head up the Franklin Road Academy high school and middle school programs. He started a new list of outstanding wrestlers including Austin Marcum, Michael Freeman, Isaac Sanders, Jesse Murphy, and Mason Mingus among many others.

One of the traits that made him such a good coach is his empathy. Marc has an uncanny ability to see the other side. He knew what it was to be a wrestler, a referee and an opposing coach when he was the coach.

Marc was named Ralph Brewer Coach of the Year and was Region Coach of the Year multiple times while also leading his team to a A/AA Dual State championship.

Marc had to develop his team leaders into his assistant coaches to run both programs as it all fell on his shoulders. But his wrestlers were better for it.

Marc roamed the FRA sidelines with his booming voice and Tom Selleck mustache for 16 years.

We are happy to add Marc into the Hall of Fame spiderweb!
