- 1983 graduate of Towers HS; GHSA AAA state runner-up (105 lbs.)
- Former collegiate wrestler for two seasons at Pembroke State (NC)
- 33 years of service as a wrestling coach in Dekalb County
- 1988-90 (2 years) - asst. coach at Towers HS
- 1990-94 (4 years) - directed and coached the Stone Mountain youth program
- 1994-1999 (5 years) - directed and coached Tillery Dekalb youth wrestling and Team Georgia Schoolboy team
- 1997-98 (1 year) - coach at Southwest Dekalb HS
- 1999-2001 (2 years) - coach at McNair HS
- 2002-2010 (7 years) - coach at Redan HS
- 2010-2014 (4 years) - coach at Stephenson HS
- 2014-2017 (3 years) - coach at Redan HS
- 2017-2018 (1 year) - coach at McNair HS
- 2018-2022 (4 years) - coach at Stone Mountain HS
- Teams have captured 6 DeKalb County championships and 12 GHSA region titles
- One of the driving forces in sustaining wrestling in Dekalb county, often rebuilding programs that had been discontinued; has coached numerous state champions; pushing Dekalb schools to start middle school wrestling
- Inducted into the Team Georgia USA Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2005
- Corporate trainer and coach for corporate level FedEx Custom Critical
- Resides in Covington, GA with wife, Sherlyn; adult children: Jerome, Jr., Shelsea, Jerun (deceased)
