R. Garry Glenn
- Native of Jefferson, GA; 1972 graduate of Jefferson HS where he starred on the mats for legendary NWHOF Coach Jack Keen and played football for legendary coach Jim Lofton. Varsity letterman in both sports
- 1976 graduate of the University of Georgia – ABJ Journalism/Broadcast News
- 2X winner of the Grantland Rice Sportswriter’s Fellowship, Phi Beta Kappa, Kappa Tau Alpha (Journalism Honor Society), graduated Magna Cum Laude
- Mid 1970’s - Helped start and coach a youth wrestling program in the Jefferson schools while a student at UGA. Members would later become GHSA state champions and hall of fame coaches
- 2002-05 (3 years) – head coach at Johnson HS (Gainesville, GA) – revived a floundering program; many of his assistant coaches and wrestlers would go on to become head coaches
- 1969-present (53 years) - Has covered wrestling as an award-winning sports journalist through his lengthy career, winning awards for sports reporting at the local, regional and national levels
- 2003-present (19 years) - Member of the Board of Directors of the Georgia Chapter of the NWHOF also serving as master of ceremonies for each of the chapter’s NWHOF induction banquets
- Pioneered local television broadcast coverage of Georgia High School Association state tournaments hosted by Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, GA in the 1990’s
- Covered NCAA meets and tournaments for nationwide broadcast on the Sports Production service in the 2000’s, interviewing numerous collegiate greats. Also covered local wrestling as part of Hall County Sports Television
- Voice of numerous regular/postseason meets and tournaments
- First in his family to wrestle; five nephews/grandnephews have gone on to medal or win state championships
- World level powerlifting competitor: 13X national and 10X world champion in bench press and/or Push/Pull; established numerous state, national and world records in various age groups and weight classes
- Popular substitute teacher in Hall County schools and a certified lay speaker for the United Methodist Church
- Resides in Oakwood, GA with wife, Jill; adult children: Morgan (Buford, GA), Mason (Los Angeles, CA)
