Eric J. Romanino served a distinguished thirty-four year career as a teacher, coach and administrator at the Beacon City School District, Beacon, New York. He possesses a positive attitude, keen sense of attention to detail and a desirable amount of humor in his leadership roles. Eric is one of the most respected leaders among the wrestling community, Section One and beyond.

In service to wrestling, Eric has served with integrity and has been influential in creating positive change. His service began as an award winning wrestling coach and progressed to the administrative side in both his school and Section One.

Eric has served the Beacon City School District in many capacities throughout the years. He was an award-winning wrestling coach for thirteen years; earning “Coach-of-the-Year” honors six times – as well as being named “Coach-of-the-Year” by the Poughkeepsie Journal four times and received the Mid-Hudson Wrestling prestigious Henry Schimmel Award for outstanding contribution to wrestling in 1995 and 2006. Eric received further recognition by being inducted in two athletic hall-of-fames: Section One Wrestling, 2014 and Beacon High School, 2015.

After coaching, Eric continued to serve the Beacon City Schools in administrative capacities as its Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics and summer school Principal until his retirement. Eric is a well-respected educator in and among the Beacon community.

As a Section I Wrestling Chair, Eric was instrumental in bringing about positive change to the sport of wrestling. He was one of the leaders in the State that piloted the regional weight assessment program – and presented it to the medical community, which is now the standard practice throughout the State. Eric was also influential and helpful in putting together the Section I Dual Meet Championships. His service to the State Wrestling Committee is worthy of note and includes ushering in two divisions, instituting a wild card system and overhauling the seeding system used at the New York State Wrestling Championships.

Eric and his wife Maryanne reside in the Hudson Valley. Together, they have raised three children and are the proud grandparents to six grandchildren.

Eric J Romanino has given of himself to others int the wrestling community for over thirty years and possesses the highest degree of honor in leadership roles. He is a true friend to the sport of wrestling. The National Wrestling Hall of Fame welcomes Eric J. Romanino for induction into the class of 2021 and recipient of its Lifetime Service Award.
