Ron Wasoba

Ron Wasoba was Humboldt High School Head Wrestling coach for 13 years, from 1988-2001 and assistant coach at Humboldt for 9 years from 1979-1988 and 7 years as the junior high coach from 2001-2008. He had a varsity coaching record of 123-41-2. In 1992 he led his team to a State dual championship and in 1995 and 1996 his team placed third in state duals. In 1998 the Humboldt squad finished third at the traditional state tournament. Coach Wasoba had 5 individual state champions, 2 runner-ups, 3 third place finishers. Ron also led his teams to 4 North Central Conference dual titles and 2 conference team titles. Ron had 33 Conference individuals who won titles in the North Central Conference. In 2013 Ron was given the Middle school coach of the year award by IWCOA. He is best known for being and outstanding motivator and treating each student equal no matter their athletic ability. Ron has continued to help out the program as a volunteer with the varsity program from time to time.
