Thomas Lota

Coach Tom started the wrestling program at Tampa Jesuit High School while attending the University of Tampa. He coached at Jesuit High School for three years. After graduation he took a teaching and coaching position at Patterson Eastside High School in New Jersey. Two years later Tom returned to the University of Tampa as an assistant coach. For the next two years he also officiated high school wrestling including district and regional tournaments. In 1976 Tom accepted the head wrestling job at East Bay High School in Hillsborough County where he coached for 24 years. During his tenure East Bay's dual meet record was 227-71. They were Conference Champions 8 times, District Champions 6 times, District runner-up 6 times, and finished in the top ten in state five times. His success and character enabled him to be named Conference Coach of the Year.
