Dr. Kevin Carpenger was the head wrestling coach at Lake Brantley High School from1977-2013. His overall record consists of 314 wins, 274 losses and 4 ties. He has coached 94 State Qualifiers, one champion and 11 placers. His team on the District and Regional Championships in 1991. These are important accomplishments but they reflect only part of his record. He has consistently fielded complete varsity and junior varsity line-ups. He and his teams are recognized for their discipline, knowledge of the rules and overall sportsmanship. Some of Dr. Carpenger's individual accomplishments include: 1972 Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges, 1972 Outstanding College Athletes, 1982 Lake Brantley Teacher of the Year, 1982 Five Star Conference Coach of the Year, 1988 Florida Athletic Coaches Association District Chairman, 1989 Scholastic Coach Magazine National High School Coaching Award, Wrestling Coach Gold Award, 1992 Co-founder All Seminole County Academic Wrestling Team, 1997 Florida Athletic Coaches Association Service Award 20 Years, 1997 Florida Citrus Sports Coach of the Year, 1998 Seminole County Coach of the Year, 1998 Co-Founder Seminole County Female Wrestling Program, 1999 The Sports Authority Award for Outstanding Athletic Leadership, 2003 Established Central Florida Wrestling Coaches Charity Challenge Meet to benefit Hospice/Cancer Society, 2002-2004 Florida High School Athletic Association Wrestling Advisory Committee Board Member, 2013 Inducted into Metro Conference Hall of Fame (with wife Vicki) and Lake Brantley High School Athletic Hall of Fame inaugural Class of 2018. Dr. Carpenger has supported all phases of amateur wrestling. He has encouraged kids wrestling, girls wrestling as well as the high school program. Dr. Kevin Carpenger has never allowed his great enthusiasm for wrestling to diminish his encouragement of academics or adherence to the highest standards of good sportsmanship.
