Until his recent retirement Bob Skelton was considered one of the top coaches in the nation. Bob began the Western New England College wrestling program in 1975 and served as head coach of the Golden Bears for the past 30 years. He ranks among the winningest NCAA Division Ill coaches with an all-time record of 405-245-7 for an impressive 625 winning percentage.

Bob is a former president of the NCAA Division Ill Wrestling Coaches Association. He has coached 136 All-New England Division Ill performers, 27 New England champions, 13 NCAA Division Ill All-Americans, and 34 Academic All-Americans.

A 1971 graduate of the University of Minnesota, Bob was elected to the NCAA Division Ill National Coaches Hall of Fame in 1997, Among his top wrestlers was fellow W.N.E.C. Downes Athletic Hall of Fame member Rodney Smith who captured the bronze medal at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain. Bob is a native of Brooklyn, New York.
