Patrick Young
Patrick Young started coaching at Wagoner High School after graduating from Oklahoma State University in 1975. He joined the Ponca City coaching staff in 1980 as the head coach of Ponca City West Junior High. The following year he was named the assistant coach at Ponca high, a position he held until 1990 when he was named the head coach. Coach Young's dual meet record stands at 196-45-2. Although Coach Young officially retired in 1998, he remains involved with Ponca City wrestling both in the wrestling room and out. He continues teaching at Ponca City high school and remains the junior high boys golf coach. In addition he serves as the wrestling broadcaster for WBBZ radio. During his career Pat Young was named Outstanding Coach of the Maverick Conference in 1976, All State 5A East Coach in 1991 and garnered an Oklahoma Wrestling Coaches Association service award in 1997. He was inducted in the Tulsa Edison Hall of Fame for wrestling in 1980.
