Warren "Dale" Sloan

November 22, 1938 - April 03, 2023

Dale Sloan persisted in a small community where football now reigns supreme and basketball still draws more participants, to bring the sport of wrestling to Morrison.

Since 1972 he has faithfully remained after forming the Cimmaron Valley Wrestling Association. Approximately 35 elementary wrestlers led the charge and soon junior high wrestling was reality.

Twelve years later in 1984 the first high school state champion was crowned and to this date six total, including one four-time champion, have stood atop the podium and represented their tiny school.

Each of those young men had been in the room with and had Dale in the corner of their mat.

Although never the junior high or high school coach, Dale has worked with the elementary program that has crowned numerous Kids and YMCA state champs.

For seven years he was president of the YMCA Wrestling Association and was named "Coach of the Year" in 2001.

Dale has been the president of the Morrison Take-Down club off and on for 20 plus years.

He has coached little league baseball and football and helped build the new ballfields at Morrison.
