John Brenner

John Brenner began his life with cerebral palsey. Although unable to walk until the age of 7, this did not stop him from being involved. Coach Thurman Garrett introduced John to the sport of wrestling in 1954, by asking him to be his wrestling manager. He kept this position until 1960. He began officiating in 1957 and continued to do so until 1979. John started coaching in 1963, where he coached at Edmond junior high school. He went from Oklahoma City to Colorado and back to Oklahoma over the next several years, coaching at various locations. Coach Brenner has been a constant contributor to the sport of wrestling for many years. He believes in getting young kids involved, helping turn them into productive citizens.
