Timothy Schoen

Tim Schoen started his wrestling career in 1973 for the Essex Falcons of the MJWL, coached by Rick Cech. After struggling in his first year as a 4th grader, Tim improved to finish his last two years as MJWL runner-up. Tim would go on to wrestle for Eric Jasper, Mike Wise and Dick Harmon at Chesapeake High School. Tim was undefeated in dual meets at Chesapeake and became the school's first Baltimore County Champion. His accolades included two county championships, two regional championships, and two trips to the state finals culminating with a championship. After high school, Tim went on to wrestle for a year at Trenton State College, New Jersey. As a freshman, he finished 3rd in the Metro Conference Tournament. Tim continued his wrestling in many open tournaments. He won an Eastern National Championship in 1990. In 1987, Tim founded the Back River Wrestling Club. Over the next 8 seasons, many of his wrestlers would become public and private school standouts. Tim also spent two seasons coaching at Chesapeake while he was coaching Back River. In 1995, Tim became an assistant coach to Alan Gebhart at Archbishop Curley High School. In 11 seasons at Curley, the team finished among the top 10 teams in the state 10 times and captured three Maryland Independent State Tournament Titles with 13 individual state champions. Tim also helped Coach Gebhart guide the team to MIAA Dual Meet Championships in 1998, 1999 and 2002. He was recognized as the Assistant Coach of the year by the NWCA after the 1999 season. Moreover, the Athletic Director of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, chose Tim to start a wrestling program in the school. From 2008, the team has a 106-61 dual meet record with despite only 100 male students in the school. Mt. Carmel has won 2 MIAA "B" Conference Championships.
