Moises Rivera

"Champions Do More" is a common phase that was heard in the wrestling room at Miami Sunset Senior high. After winning a Florida state title in 1985, Moises received a scholarship to wrestle at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. While in college, he helped coach at Civic Memorial High School. Upon gradation, he returned to coach at his alma mater in 1990. Over the next nineteen years, he coached 5 state champions, 9 state finalists and multiple place winners. He has been a clinician, hosted multiple camps and has been tournament director of several district tournaments. As a member of the FHSAA Wrestling Coaches Advisory Committee, he helped implement changes to policy for the betterment of the sport. In addition to wrestling, for five years, he coached girls cross country teams that won district and conference championships during his tenure. He credits his Christian faith and the support of his family for all of his success. Since 2009, he has served as Miami Sunset's athletic director and continues to be an advocate for the great sport of wrestling. He married to his lovely wife, Jackie and they have two incredible children Luke and Isabela
