Frank Drake

Honoree: Frank Drake A 1979 graduate of the University of South Florida, Frank was head coach at North Fort Myers High School in Lee County from 1981 - 2015. Coach Drake had the honor of coaching many talented Red Knights in his career. One in particular, Ramico Blackmon, a 1991 North Fort Myers High graduate won the U.S.A. Freestyle wrestling champion in 2001. Ramico defeated Chris Bono in the finals. Ramico was a 3X U.S. National Team Member and a resident of the Olympic Training Center for 10 years. Ramico also compiled numerous International Titles as well. Coach Drake had 5 state champions in his career. One of which was Ray Worsham, who will always be remembered for his mental toughness and just an outstanding person. Ray passed away in 1999 from cancer. Coach Drake is married to wife, Maggie. He has three children, Christopher, Jessica and Andrew. Coach Drake taught math at North Fort Myers High School for 38 years and just recently retired from teaching in 2017. In his retirement , he enjoys spending time with his grandchildren Avonlea, Scarlett and Beau.
