Brian Ricks

The Tiger-Grizz tournament, the legacy built by Brian Ricks, will be an event that many wrestlers from the western US will remember as an integral part of their own wrestling career. Brian was Skyline High School's head wrestling coach from 1984-2015 and the Skyline Wrestling Club freestyle coach from 1984-2015. Brian has been the District Coach of the Year seven times and in 2005 was voted the 5A Idaho State Coach of the Year. A wrestler for Madison HS, Brian had an overall record of 97-3. As Madison High School's first ever State Champion, he went on to become a 2X State Champ. He attended Rick's (now BYU Idaho) where he become a National Junior College All-American. Brian then attended Weber State College on a wrestling scholarship. There he earned his bachelor's degree in Math and physical education. While a wrestler at Weber State, he set the school record for most near fall points scored in one season. Parents and wrestlers sing his praises, in their words, "Coach Ricks has helped student athletes prepare for life. He has cheered their courage, applauded their determination and helped them rise from defeat as they pursued their goals."
