Russell Mauger

Russ was inducted posthumously. He was represented by his wife Barbara and brother Dave (NWHOF / Florida), Russ started making an impact on wrestling at Heidelberg University in Ohio. In 1986 he became an assistant coach at Pinellas Park High School. In 1970 he moved to Dixie Hollins High School also as an assistant. This became a 16 year commitment and he is remembered for donating his salary back to the program. Through his efforts the city of St Petersburg, Florida was awarded multiple FHSAA Championships, all directed by him. His influence on the sport of wrestling was so profound, to this day the FHSAA awards the annual "Russ Mauger", Mental Attitude Award to an athlete at the State Championship Event.
