Bill Weber

Bill Weber started wrestling in the 7th grade and wrestled varsity for three years at Patapsco High School. A scholarship helped Bill continue wrestling at the University of Baltimore under Hall of Fame Coach Ray Haney. A starter all four years, Bill was 2 time Mason Dixon Conference Champion after finishing runner up as a sophomore. In both his junior and senior years, he was voted Most Outstanding Wrestler. A two time National Qualifier, Bill was team Unsung Hero as a freshman and MVP as a junior. Bill started coaching at the Dundalk Hawks Junior League Team in 1990 and was head coach for 7 years. He coached numerous Junior League State Champions, many of whom went on to also win High School State Championships. Moreover, some had great success as college wrestlers including at least one All-American. In 1997, Bill became the head coach at Sparrows Point High School. With very few wrestlers having prior experience, Bill guided the team and they improved tremendously. He had numerous county, region and state place winners and one state champion. Bill's greatest honor was coaching his three sons both at the junior league and high school level. After coaching high school for 10 years (the last two as a volunteer), Bill became a Maryland Wrestling Official. Bill has officiated at every level in Maryland; Junior League State Championships, High School County and Regional Championships and Public and Private School State Championships. Beyond his committee work for the Maryland Wrestling Officials Association, he also served on the Board of Directors for four years. Bill's reputation has always been more than just a coach. He was a mentor, a molder of men.
