Wally has coached wrestling in Idaho for 35 years at Hillside Jr High, Kuna HS, Bishop Kelly HS and most notably at Nampa HS. Wally was instrumental in starting the Treasure Valley Youth wrestling program as well as the Nampa Youth Freestyle Club. He successfully served as an assistant coach at many USA Idaho cadet and national team events. Wally's overall coaching record is 289-63, state runner up in 2004, his teams at Nampa finished top four 12 times with 16 individual state champions and 72 state placers. He received nine Idaho District III Coach of the Year awards. Beyond that Wally says "wins and losses, awards and accolades are great but they are just the items that hang on the wall, eventually ending up in boxes. My greatest achievement is the joy that comes from watching many of the wrestlers I have coached reach their goals then go on to become productive citizens and leaders in their communities".
