Ron Johnshoy

Ron Johnshoy began wrestling as a youth in Missoula, MT. Leading him to wrestle for Northern Montana College where he graduated March of 1991 with a degree in K-12 Health and P.E. Education. In January 1992 he began his teaching career in Havre, MT where he also coached middle school wrestling. In 1994 Ron moved the family to Idaho Falls, ID where he was named Freshman Wrestling Coach at Bonneville High School. In 1999 Ron had the opportunity to be a Head Wrestling Coach in Lakeview, OR. In 2002 Ron was hired to teach Jr. High P.E., Careers and Health as well as High School P.E. and Health in Melba, ID. He also became the Head Jr. High and High School Wrestling Coach where he was named Idaho Coach of the Year. In the summer of 2006 Ron was asked to be a part of the USA Wrestling Team Idaho coaching staff. Subsequently, Ron traveled with Team Idaho in 2006 with the Cadet Dual Team and in 2007 - 2013 to USA Cadet and Junior Nationals in Fargo, ND as USA Wrestling Team Idaho coaching staff. Ron taught his family and wrestlers the importance of hard work and commitment. His passion for the sport went far beyond competition, it was about the life lessons wrestling taught. It was important to pay it forward, to give back to the sport that has helped so many to get through life's tough times. Ron was a man of great faith and believed that with faith and the lessons learned from a sport that requires hard work and mental toughness, any hardship could be overcome. Ron was our rock and encourager, he taught us a lot in the time we had with him. He taught us to work hard and never give up. He taught us to always give back and the importance of paying it forward. He impressed on us the importance of having faith in God and always looking ahead and not behind. His passion for the sport went far beyond competition, it was about the life lessons wrestling taught.
