Bill Swink

31 years on, Coach Bill Swink can look back on a period of dominance few can match.

He started his career at Connellsville (Pennsylvania) Junior High West where he served as head coach for six years before moving to Virginia.

There, he broke in as an assistant coach for several high schools, among them Stafford, Hylton, North Stafford, and Louisa County. After head coaching stops at Osbourn Park and North Stafford, he came in 1999 to his current position at Colonial Forge, the first and only head wrestling coach for the Eagles.

Bill's teams have amassed a record of 352-96-4, capturing 16 district and 16 regional championships, three runner-up trophies in AAA or 6A states, and, unsurpassed in this century, six state titles. This team success is built on his development of outstanding individuals: 103 district champions, 135 top-four regional place-winners (state qualifiers), and 17 state champions among 84 state medalists. His teams have been ranked in the national Top 50 twice and his wrestlers are well represented in the college ranks.

His achievements have not gone unrecognized. He was named Region Three Coach of the Year in 2007, Virginia Coach of the Year by the National Wrestling Coaches Association on two occasions (2004 and 2007), and Virginia Man of the Year by Wrestling USA in 1998 and 2006.

Bill teaches business education and marketing at CFHS and resides in Spotsylvania with his wife Andrea and daughter Natalie.
