Brad Cooper

Brad Cooper has been an amazing educator in the Minidoka County School District for the last 32 years as a classroom teacher and wrestling coach. Coach Cooper was a 2X Idaho State Wrestling Champion himself as well as Big Sky Champion for Idaho State University in 1982. Brad has been the head wrestling coach at Minco High School for 28 years where he was voted State Coach of the Year two times as well as the District IV Coach of the Year 22 times. He has served as President of the Idaho Wrestling Coaches Association, been and advisory member of the District IV Coaches Association, served on the IHSAA Rules Committee from 2004 - 2015, and as the 4A Idaho State Seeding Director from 2010 to 2014. Coach Cooper has tremendous integrity and sincerity as well as an intense desire for ALL students to learn and to succeed; with a wonderful way of incorporating "real life" experiences into his lessons. Brad strategically utilizes every opportunity to advance leadership skills both on the mat and in the classroom. As Minico HS Administrators say, "we have exited the puddle of mediocrity and have become annual playoff contenders" as a result of his strong attitude and his ability to inspire others to greatness. Brad Cooper promotes a great sense of unity and trust among wrestling coaches across the state and outstanding citizenship in the youth of our community. Brad has a great sense of humor and can be a bit of a trickster which always kept Board meetings lively. Brad is a passionate leader who courageously casts off fear, doubt and limiting beliefs and in turn creates a sense of hope, optimism, and accomplishment. Coach Brad Cooper has had success as a wrestling coach with a dual meet record of 383-53, 22 State Champions and 4 All-Americans. However, for Brad, it isn't about winning. It is about helping young wrestlers become all they can be. He teaches student athletes fundamentals of wrestling, strategies for competition and lessons for life. As he works with his wrestlers he has high expectations for them as well. These expectations always include classroom, community, and citizenship.
