Dr. Vermon Esplin

Vermon began wrestling in high school in Utah. The youngest of eight, he lived on a farm/ranch and consequently during the summers, before and after school there was plenty of work to do and little money. From meager beginnings, Vermon didn't have the time or money to go to camps, or to take advantage of other opportunities in sports and other activities that he liked; because with all his brothers and sister now grown up and gone, and his father in declining health, Vermon was all alone and had to do all the hard work and make personal sacrifices on the farm. Dr. Esplin had to grow up fast in an often times cruel world. Vermon did well in his undergraduate classes, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology, a minor in Chemistry, and graduating Summa Cum Laude in the College of Science at the University of Utah. During his college years, he earned certification in Utah as a wrestling official and in his second year was honored by being voted by the coaches to officiate at the State Wrestling Championships. His Service to Wrestling and to Humanity never looked back...Dr. Vermon Esplin is a nationally recognized Orthopedic Hand Surgeon, truly a visionary, always conveying that "wrestling taught him more about himself and what his mind and body could to than any other sport". He said "wrestling is the hardest thing I had ever done, and made me better than I ever thought I could be". Dr. Vermon Esplin is a humble man of highest virtue and integrity, a tremendous "giver" of time and money, a man of decisive action who knows that excellence is always striving to do better, and leads by greater example, a man who sees a child and acts to nurture the greatness within until they see it for themselves, a man who carries a message within his heart and manifests it outwardly with and extraordinary vision and "opportunities" for all, and a man who favors God and Family above all else. Recognizing that no amount of achievement could ever make up for failure at home...a compassionate and loving man who with his dear wife Cara opens their hearts and home to others as he blows on the coals of his heart so that others may see more brightly the gift of Family.
