Mike Jones has spent over half his life either wrestling, coaching wrestling or officiating wrestling.

Jones won an Oklahoma state wrestling individual championship in 1977 while leading Tulsa's East Central High School to the team title.

After high school, he was national runner-up for Claremore Junior College, then enrolled at the University of Colorado. He finished second for the Buffaloes at 118 pounds at the 1980 Big Eight tournament, but learned that Colorado had dropped wrestling, so he transferred to Oklahoma State.

After a redshirt year, Jones compiled a 17-11 record at 126 pounds and finished third at the 1982 Big Eight tournament.

He spent a year as an OSU graduate assistant before beginning a public school coaching career with stops at Catoosa Junior High, Midwest City's Monroney Junior High, Tulsa's Nathan Hale, McAlester, Broken Arrow, Bixby and Springdale, Arkansas.

In 1986, he was named the OWCA Region 7 Coach-of-the-Year. He was chosen as the OSSAA Assistant Coach-of-the-Year three times while at Broken Arrow, and was instrumental in helping the Tigers to the 1998 team title.

In 2014, Jones received the Edward C. Gallagher Award presented annually to an OSU alumnus who exemplifies the spirit and leadership eminent in the tradition of champions.

He recently returned to Tulsa to assist in creating Metro Christian Academy's new wrestling program.

For his devotion to helping wrestling and wrestlers grow, Mike Jones is honored for his Lifetime Service to Wrestling by the Oklahoma Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
