Ed Knecht

Growing up in Ohio, Ed decided to attend and wrestle at NAU in Flagstaff, where he spent a year assisting the Lumberjacks in 1976. He then spent 4 years assisting at ASU before spending 20 more years as an assistant or head coach at various high schools. He was Head Coach at Glendale Community College, Thunderbird HS, Brophy Prep, and Flagstaff HS. He has a total of 39 years coaching and is still at it. Ed's teams over the years earned 8 individual titles and 30 were place winners at state. Eight of his wrestlers earned All-American honors. Ed organized and ran the Junior High State Tourney for 10 years. He is one of four original organizers of the Sunkist International Wrestling Tournament and has both organized and ran other camps and tournaments over the year. Ed was AAU Open Chairman and organized the Triple Crown Championship Series.
