Kevin Wood

Kevin Wood has invested over 45 years in wrestling rooms with over 30 of those as a high school head coach. His successes as a wrestling have seen him win two Idaho HS State Championships at Meridian HS, two Big Sky championships at Boise State University and selection to the Boise State Wrestling Hall of Fame. His successes as a coach were many. Kevin began coaching with the great Bruce Burnett at Meridian HS in 1983 helping them win three state titles. In 1987 Kevin became Centennial HS first head coach winning a state championship and garnering the Idaho Coach of the Year award which he would go on to win numerous times. Since then, Kevin has been the head coach at three different high schools where his teams have won six Idaho State Titles. During his 30 years of coaching Kevin's service to the area has seen him volunteer for the Special Olympics and other community service organizations. Kevin has had a tremendous impact not only on the sport of wrestling but also on so many of those he coached. Glen Amador quickly credits Kevin for being a huge, positive influence in his life saying that he was "grooming him to be a winner in life: teaching Glen and others resiliency, tenacity, kindness and humility". Kevin has been described as a "quiet, humble warrior for kids". Meet Kevin Wood and you will know that to be true. Long time Capital High coach Rocky Lima's words sum it up. "In all corners of the state, you can find coaches, administrators, teachers, and business owners that have been positively influenced by Coach Wood".
