Bill Braseth

To know Bill Braseth is to appreciate all that he has done for wrestling in the state of Idaho. Bill's impact on Idaho wrestling began in the 70's in Parma where he was a State Champion and then to Boise State University in 1977. During his tenure there he was a three time Big Sky Champion while earning the respect of his opponents, teammates and coaches. It takes a special and unique individual to receive all of BSU's awards "Most Competitive" "Most Inspirational" and "Outstanding Wrestler". This is Bill Braseth. From 1981 Bill has devoted much of his professional and personal life to wrestling. He has been an Idaho wrestling official for jr high all the way to college matches and has been head or assistant coach at Boise and Timberline high schools for over 18 years. His coaching and influence on Boise high wrestling is truly impressive. He did more with less almost every year he was there and was voted Idaho's wrestling coach of the year for his efforts. Bill's service also extended beyond his schools. Bill never hesitates to offer his services, as Cliff Laughlin said. "Bill is someone you can count on". He has devoted his time to wrestling in so many ways including his association with the Bronco Wrestling Club, founding and leading the Arrow Rock Wrestling Club, and organizing and/or helping in wrestling tournaments from kids' club to developing the state's talent with USA Idaho Wrestling. Just like former BSU Coach Mike Young said about Bill's time at BSU, if we gave an "Iron Man" award, he'd get it.
