Ricky Stack

A North Carolina native, Stack wrestled for Coach Bruce Hardin at Olympic High School where he was a 2x state qualifier and member of a team that finished 2nd in the 1973 state tournament.  He then went to Appalachian State University as member of the wrestling team from 1974 to 1977.  Stack began his coaching career at Charlotte Catholic from 1977-1980 before moving to Charlotte Country Day where he coached until 1999. Since 1999, Stack has coached at Providence and at Myers Park, where he has served as head coach since 2007.  Stack has a career record of 418 wins and 167 losses and has coached four national prep all-Americans. He was selected as the CISAA conference Coach of the Year multiple times and won seven state championships while at Charlotte Country Day.  He was named Mecklenburg County Coach of the Year in 1991 and 1993.  In 1991, Stack was recognized as Coach of the Year for all sports by the Charlotte Independent Schools Athletic Association.  In 1986, after an undefeated season, he was given the prestigious Carl Bolick Award by Charlotte Country Day School.  Also an outstanding educator, Stack was named the Charlotte Country Day Teacher of the Year in 1992.  The Myers Park wrestling room is named in honor of Coach Stack.
