Ron Hudiburg LIFETIME SERVICE TO WRESTLING South Kitsap High School 1984-2004 Decatur High School 1983-1984 Port Angeles High School 1974-1982 Duncan Junior High School (OK) 1971-1974 Ron Hudiburg was an Oklahoma state champion in 1964 at 148 pounds along with third and fourth place finishes for Stillwater High School, and wrestled at Oklahoma State University under Myron Roderick where he earned a degree in 1970. After three years coaching wrestling at Duncan Junior High in Duncan, Oklahoma, Hudiburg headed to Port Angeles where he was the head wrestling coach for eight years and compiled a 62-24-1 record. After serving as an assistant at Decatur for a year, Ron landed at South Kitsap High School where he would remain as the head wrestling coach for twenty years. Ron's South Kitsap teams dominated the Narrows League, winning 14 league titles and fifteen league tournaments. His record with the Wolves was 203-34-2 (85%) including an incredible run of 113 league wins in a row from 1992-2004. His overall record was 265-58-3 and his teams won four regional titles. His South Kitsap wrestling teams finished in the top ten at state five times including a runner-up finish in 1995. Ron coached 63 state placers with five state champions. Seven of his wrestlers won a total of eleven Washington State Wrestling Coaches Association Academic All-State Awards. Ron has been honored by his peers being selected as the Junior High Wrestling Coach of the year in Oklahoma in 1974. In 2004 he was named the Washington State Wrestling Coaches Association "4A" Wrestling Coach of the Year. He was then inducted into the Washington State Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2006. Coach Hudiburg taught science for 33 years and is now retired. Ron and his wife JoAnne reside in Port Orchard. They have two daughters, Missy (42) and Tara (39), and a son Clayton (37) who is a science teacher and assistant wrestling coach at Walla Walla High School. They also have five grandchildren.
